Help- sold faulty radiator valves

Hi,
I was sold faulty radiator valves when buying new radiators for 2.6k. The company professes to be very high spec and their products are if a very high standard.
When the radiators were fitted the heating would not work in my house. My builder tested the plumbing system and had someone come out and check the boiler. The boiler did have one part that needed replacing (a valve?) but this did not fix the problem.
I then contacted the radiator company to ask if they had any other issues with boilers not being able to service the radiators (it had been suggested by my builder that may be an issue) when they advised there had been an issue with valves that wer're supplied arnd the time my rads were made and this may be the issue.
It turns out this was the issue. My issue now is that they had prior knowledge there were issues with the radiators and dos not pass on the info. The company have said they are not happy to compensate me for the investigative. Work that took place as I should have contacted them first thing. I advised I thought a premium product would have been in working order (as per the sale of goods act) and that it was reasonable to investigate other avenues! My builder has sent a bill for 1600- this includes getting people out for the boiler, replacing the valve he says was caused by a build up of pressures because the radiator valves were faulty.
Can you please advise / has anyone any thoughts?
I feel like the company expected me to be quality control for their product. Also the lady advised that they issue 1000s of valves weekly so the fact that a few cases have come to light does not warrant product recall- but surely they have a responsibility to contact customers. What if my boiler blew up?!
Thanks

It wil be hard to get them to pay for your builder. You mention the SOGA, but you didn't give the company any opportunity at all to rectify the problem (which you are meant to do) so that's not reasonable on your part.
I do find it quite odd that you didn't go straight back to them, rather than pay that much money to a 3rd party unless it was your builder that fitted them in the first place? Did he really charge you £1600 just to look at the the boiler and change a valve?!?0
