Which is also why I asked for the OPs meter readings in post 2. to clarify what exactly they are using and also confirm if they have correctly worked out usage in kwh.
As per post 2: Do you have/can you post your actual/confirmed meter readings for the last 6 months.
Thank you!0 -
What controls have you got (timer, thermostat, TRVs etc), what temperatures do you have set. How much hot water do you use. Have you got reasonable insulation.
You really need to start reading your meter daily and trying to see when and what is using the energy. You'll get a much better return on your money by making sure your insulation is up to scratch, improving your controls and reducing your consumption of hot water.
Reducing the number or amount of time in the shower or bath can make a big difference as can not letting hot water run down the sink whilst washing or rinsing. High flow or power showers can get through a lot of hot water so halving the time you stand there will halve your consumption of both water & gas.
Don't take short draw offs of hot water as they waste a lot of water and leave hot water sitting in the pipes. Combi boilers run at full bore whilst the hot tap is open and so use a lot of gas for small amounts of hot water. Wash or rinse stuff (including your hands) in cold water.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
