Halifax switch failed.

On Thursday I applied for a Halifax Reward c/a and filled in a switch form for a Natwest basic account, set up purposely for this a few weeks ago. I got a text the day after saying my switching proccess has begun. Today I received a text saying the switch had failed.
I've got no idea why, as I've never had a Halifax account before, never received a switch incentive from hbos, and not switching from a bank of Scotland account.
I'll need to phone them tomorrow as the number they provided isn't free from mobile and I'm in work till 11 tonight. But any ideas on what makes a switch fail as I've never done one before. There were no DD's or salary on the Natwest account, but I never seen any terms saying there had to be.
Thanks

I've had problems switching to halifax from metro. Turned out my current account was surgically attached to a cc. I had to close the cc account, which took three tries because metro were useless, before the switch could happen. So check the terms of your natwest account and see if that has a link of some kind to another account.0

I switched to the halifax reward account. I had to have money going into my current account of over £1000 to get the reward each month and had to switch 2 DD. Not sure if those were requirements for the switch itself. Maybe the lack of both failed your switch? I guess they want to avoid people just opening an account that they don't use and then getting a reward for switching. They maybe realised that this wasn't your main current account but just one you just opened?03/26: OD £1200 600 500, CC £3914 3317, family £3100, loan £5618 5306 5036- total: £13832 12323 12003, mortgage £58,243 £57,766 571140 -
There's a lot of "failing" going on at Halifax at the moment, their internet banking isn't working properly. After phoning their online helpline, talking slowly to their voice recognition software, pressing several buttons & telling a machine in one sentence what I wanted, after a long wait a nice lady with an Asian accent assured me she was in Cardiff & would put me through to the online helpline. Which is what I thought I'd done in the first place. Anyway she didn't put me through as they were too busy to talk to me because they have a problem with their internet banking.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Did you activate your Natwest debit card? This can cause Natwest to reject the switch rather than Halifax.0 -

There is no connection between the requirements of any potential switching bonus and the switch happening technically.
There has also not been any requirement for any DDs for the Halifax switching offer for several months now.
The failure of Djene's switch will be something very simple, such as name/address not matching 100%.0 -
I had exactly the same thing. When I rang up Halifax they said that Natwest had failed to respond in the correct time, so it was cancelled. The guy didn't know why, but said he could resubmit it. It has now gone through fine and I have received the switching bonus too.0
