Spark Energy have been known to continue claiming direct debit payments when they know they are no longer supplying energy and the customer is in credit. I just wonder how many customers have had money stolen in this manner and not just by Spark.[/QUOTE]
If you have evidence of theft then pass it on to the Police. In truth, it is an IT/billing systems error and the customer is protected by the DD Guarantee. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I did online chat with them yesterday and I was told that my balance is out-of-date and need to adjusted. So they did and agree to lower direct debit by £13 and refund me £275 which should reach my account within 28 days. I hope all this promises will take place. I saved this chat as a proof before they disconnect. You should request a refund:

Such a large credit balance suggests your direct debit is much higher than it needs to be, so you should also request that they adjust it according to your actual usage.
Thanks

How many customers do you think will actually notice the extra debit? The fact MSE had to urge customers of all suppliers to reclaim credit balances on closed energy accounts highlights what is really going on.

You should make a formal complaint to them and then escalate it to the Ombudsman. For that timescale I would ask for interest on the amount owing.

Yes I just made a post about the same matter.
They have not refunded the overpaid credits when I left and have taken two months payments on top of that.
So they owe me 2.5 months money, (I though my bank account was a bit low!!).
How can they get away with this?
We all know the answer the that, OFGEM, the biggest waste of space in the UK, the capital of corruption.0 -
