Multi car insurace

Hi,
We have four vehicles in the household so I am looking at multi car policies - they seem much better value for money as a new customer (I would effectively get two of the vehicles insured for 'free' vs my current costs), but I'm worried about the potential renewal cost after the first year as it seems to be much harder to compare policies between providers (and there are not nearly as many providers to choose from on multi-car!).
Has anyone got any multicar policy experience they would like to share?
Thanks,
calydon

We moved over to a multi car policy last year with Aviva. The renewal has just come through and it is LOWER than last year! Still going to get a quote from Admiral and any other providers I can find but, so far, our experience has been positive.0

Changing and harmonising renewal dates is a big bonus to insurers that offer fleet policies or other multiline offerings.
Most insurances are not as good value in later years as they are to new customers and by having to now price up all 4 vehicles at the same time it'll be more of a ball ache than when it was one every couple of months... or at least thats what some insurers hope anyway.0 -
I've been with Admiral since they first started doing multi-car policies.
Despite a claim a few years ago their renewal quotes still remain competitive each year.
Mind you, that doesn't stop me ringing up each year to see if they can better it - they can normally knock a bit off of the price and I even got them to drop me to a zero excess a couple of years ago without any extra charge.0 -
Thanks everyone. I reckon I'm going to go for it. Even if it almost doubles in price next year it'll still be a saving on whawhat we pay now!!0

Make sure you shop around, Multicar policies are not always the cheapest option.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Aviva multi car works well for us. 3 cars on the policy. renewals seem okay., but I can always do them separately if the renewal in uncompetitive.0

I have shopped around - multicar is definitely the cheapest option by a long way for us, a saving of over 50% this year.0

I use Direct Line for three cars and find them very competitive. Also have one of the cars on their DrivePlus scheme. Do not think they are on comparison sites so have to go direct to them online. I did look at aligning all the renewal dates but found it more cost effective with Direct Line to leave them as they are. I would rather spread the cost across the year if possible.0 -
I was with direct line and paying around £300, Then one year they wanted closer to £500, I got better quotes and rang to cancel and they beat the quotes which reduced the price back to a similar one to the previous year.
The following year they wanted over £500 and wouldnt reduce the price so i left. The following year i did a quite on their site and it came back at nearly £1000.
They have never been close since.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
