The great majority of births will be muslims very soon and as 50% of muslims don't work (75% for muslim women) I cannot understand your simplistic logic.

I know I don't frequent this forum so often now, but my first thought was to see when this thread was resurrected from.
I'm sure the BTL impact to the house price has been done ad infinitum.
We all know there is a shortage of properties, and whilst there is a shortage, it drives the market for investors to capitalise on that gap.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

So I would argue that the increase in output/productivity in the decade to 2007 was actually as the result of financial innovation developing an alchemy which allowed profits that previously accrued over the life of a financial product (loan, mortgage etc) all being taken immediately via securitisation thus 'bringing forward' GDP.
Not technology? Along with the advent of the internet which take out the need for middlemen.0 -
Your link don't work.
The 2013 data is here: http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/vs!!!/parents--country-of-birth--england-and-wales/2013/stb-births-by-cob-2013.html
And neither does mine.:(
In both cases, the web address features "v s o b 1" as part of the spec. For some reason MSE does not like this and insists on "vs!!!'0 -

In our new “Virgin voters” series, we listen to what young people and first-time voters have to say about the election issues that matter most to them. This week, following David Cameron’s housing speech, we talk about housing.

Ok, Generation Rent, here what has been done for you in the last government.
1) 0.5% base rate (cheaper mortgage payments)
2) Quantitative Easing (even Cheaper mortgage payments)
3) Funding for Lending (even more Cheaper mortgage payments)
4) Help to buy 1 (Government help with deposit on new builds)
5) Help to buy 2 (Government help with deposit on old builds)
6) Abolition of SDLT slab structure (Reduction of Tax)
7) Help to buy ISA (Government giving you physical cash to buy a home!)
Did I miss anything ?
What else can do you expect the government to do for you ? Give you houses for free ?
Maybe they should be called Generation "ungrateful", no government has done more to help people onto the housing ladder than the last one.0
