Young drivers

I am just wondering if anyone has any car insurance recommendations for young drivers. I want to insure my daughter. I realised it would be expensive, but was shocked when I started getting quotes.

Do a search for 'young driver' on this forum, the question crops up regularly, so there are loads of tips already.

    Quinn Direct!

    I'm insured with them (TPFT), Provisional license £900 for a rover 200 1.4 '97

My first car, no claims bonus, and 17 male - say no more

Once i have passed it will not increase.

***If i had done a quote with a full UK License they quoted me £1600 TPFT***
but as i am only provisional its much cheaper, so my advise is insure it asap (before test)

Its very much a suck it and see option. A few hours spent going thru the insurance comparison sites is well worth it. Also try Tesco and Direct Line who aren't on these sites.Try upping the excess, adding yourself as a named driver (sometimes lowers the premium, sometime raises it). Really comes down to personal details. Swift seems to be the flavour of the month but nothing is certain.

Just a guess but I would say it is because it is guaranteed you will always have some 'responsible' in the car with you, and so less of a liability for them. With a full license you're on your own and more of a risk as a new driver.
Sometimes I feel like a pelican. Whichever way I turn, I've still got an enormous bill in front of me.
  • Another vote for Quinn Direct - My 17 yr old son has his insurance with them. He takes his test on aug 31st, and has had a little corsa with Quinn for 5 months. They were by far the cheapest and believe me - we did a heck of a lot of searching!!
