Even on Virgin it's possible to call from 0.5p per minute.

Thanks for this. I don't have a landline, so when I rang up I paid £1 per min on mobile. However, knowing how much cheaper it is on a landline I will find a family member and use theirs!

Haha. You are quite right. The total cost was $4700, however I owe $170 which I've been told is the excess that my insurance didn't pay.
