Received this email just now and OFGEM has had a senior moment, what are they thinking? This is not good news in my opinion what happened to the customer coming first??

A reaction to the comparison sites and the constant switchers. Smart metering is going to take ages to get into every property, unless made easy and cheap.

I must admit I switch but have been with BG for 3 out of 4 yrs and switched from their price protection to click energy 2. They say on their site I woun't be penalised for moving but?????? what does this now mean in light of Ofgem? future switching is going to be a pain

It will be promoted as 'cheaper if you contract for minimum time'. b ut B.G have been doing that anyway.
Perhaps maybe, OFGEM have something in the pipeline, like simpler tariffs, easier to see what the consumer is using and so on.

No doubt the market will become a lot more complex, like phone contracts or mortgages, with lock ins and redemption penalties , but also flexibility for those who want it.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

I can't see it providing flexibility.

I would agree it will make the market more complex.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

I do agree that 4 weeks to then switch again is not that economical and I would promote a 2 month period instead, but I too can see penalty clauses galore
