Moving landlord furniture

Hi folks
Im just looking for advice from landlords and tennants alike regarding furniture.
In short, Im currently renting a house with furniture included. There are 3 rooms with 3 beds, we recently got ourselves a new bed because the landlords one wasnt really up to stratch. We have the best of the 3 landlord beds in the guest room so have 2 spare. We are currently just storing them in the third bedroom, which we use as a study. My question is, would it be reasonable to ask the letting agent to ask the landlord if they could remove the spare beds? We have been in the property for 3 years now, and have no use for them, but I could see why the landlord might want them to stay there, considering they dont know when we will be moving on. Anyone been in a similar situation?
Any advice is appreciated.

Entirely reasonable for you to ask agent -or landlord direct - to shift the stuff: They don;t have to agree.0

The beds that you are asking to be removed will need to be back in situ when you check out of your property.
If you ask the LL to remove them and it is agreed then make sure you get written and signed evidence of this from the LL so as to avoid any dispute at the point you do move out...I assume it is not your intention to leave your beds in the property when you leave so make sure that the fixtures and fittings list are updated to reflect the change of beds.
If the LL objects then it may be a case of you needing to store the old beds until you leave to avoid you being charged because you cannot produce them as part of the check out inventory.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

If they really are unusable then ask for written permission to dispose of them.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

All you can do is ask, you will not be in any worse situation if the answe is no.
As a LL I only let unfurnished but I would rather the tenant was happy, I guess it a question of where the LL would have to store them.
As others have said get documentation of the removal if agreed, maybe suggest you could help with loading etc as LL may need to employ a man and van to remove.
Most modern beds can be dismantled, can you do this?0 -
Thanks for the advice folks. To answer a few questions, I wouldnt say that they are unusable but they are not exactly in good quality, screws missing, not very sturdy. The mattresses are old and not very comfortable, that sort of thing. From what I understand the landlord used to live in the house, so he probably didnt change anything when he moved unless necessary.
ognum, yes they can be dismantled, and we have done so already in order to fit them into the study room. One is a double and the other is a single, so they take up a considerable amount of space even when dismantled.
Ill see what the letting agents say.0 -
There is no requirement for them to be there at the end of the tenancy but if you've chucked them you will have to pay the landlord what they would have been worth at the end of your tenancy. If they are old they're probably not worth much if anything. You could offer a small amount to the landlord to buy them so you can dispose of them. Here's a link on how to apportion value based on the age of the item and it's expected lifespan:

Take photographs and document their age and condition before you do anything.0 -
Thanks franklee, I would never think about just throwing something out especially if its on the inventory. Food for thought regarding offering a small amount to the LL, the idea didnt even cross my mind.0
