Thank you Princess! I noticed as was just there as my husband is doing some work this week, that they stole my cashtill! My husband, who attended yesterday after police left didnt notice, but I dont blame him. Idiots. That cost me £500.
I cant claim for it as I have an ongoing (contentious) insurance claim going on due to the damage anyway. Life!

Well done on your roadkill JoJo, and for the free activities. I agree thats where its at this week for me too.

FatVD - I dont agree on the savings front between the big 4 and the budget stores. In my humble experience £20 goes a heck of a lot further in Aldi or Lidl than in Sains or Ts. But thats me. I have found the difference in things like salad to be amazing. Meat too. For example Lidl is doing a pack of quality beef mince for £1.29 this week vs £2 in Ts and more in Sains.
I dont shop brands either but have managed to slash my food bill down using the budget stores. But I always hunt for YS items whenever I go to Mr T. Sains is useless for them.
Yesterday I did see a really grosse thing in Mr T which was bacon marked down to 60p per pack, horray, with mould on it. Grim. And it had gone grey. Who would buy that?

Well, I have so far paid out for 2 items for the business, one enormous at £910 and the other slightly smaller at £91. I have used my reward card, which isnt listed in my total as its £0, and then paid it straight off. So I get points but no interest, plus it covers me for the warantee a card gives.

I also had a packed lunch with my husband who is around today, & also paid another £16.11 off a card, with some Topcashback money that cleared today unexpectedly.

That's lovely. In our town we also have a shop that buys unwanted books by weight and gives you cash for them.

Unfortunately we don't have anything like that :( If we did I would have made a blimmin' fortune because they weighed a ton  I / we have a ridiculous number of books, a lot from previous study, jobs etc. We are both retired now, and don't need them, so I have decided to keep only books that I will read more than once. OH has a huge number as well, but he also has a den to keep all his stuff in, so sorting that out is up to him! Apart from the 6 carrier bags that went today, I have made nearly £60 from Amazon Trade in, and have loads for when we next do a boot sale. I will need to sort them again.

    Today's small things
    1. Got an email from music magpie to say another order for £7.80 has been processed. That was for a small broken laptop. So its good to get cash in for that. I've already had £25 from music magpie this month which I paid straight off a card. Will do same with this.
After I read this, I went to MM's site and entered the old, broken laptop that I need to get rid of. The going rate is 67p, so I will not bother :rotfl:

They certainly are! Not worth bothering with :(

I have just listed 2 items on ebay, which I am very pleased about, as it was not on my to-do list today :D

  • Apologies for the long post but I've not posted in a fortnight:

    So I have done:
    - Went out for dinner on Valentines, not very moneysaving, but we do budget for one night out a week, discovered a fabulous resto, tried amazing food, and got a free rose out of it ;)
    - Motivating people at work to start / keep saving, and gave some basic benefits advice out too
    - Doing really well at work stats-wise. Had a test and an interview and though they have no real outcome, they both went well
    - OH bought me flowers for Saturday with a discount, free chocolates & delivery
    - Had a really relaxing Saturday watching catch up TV together in bed :)
    - Bought a couple of books for my future children. Before you  this is moneysaving as I'll have less to spend in one go in the future...
    - Also had a lovely Sunday - did chores, browsed the shops, had a coffee date with OH, then evening Mass
    - Didn't buy breakfast out this morning, only spent £3.30 on food (which I'll be gradually reducing)
    - Made a batch of barley and froze some, will help with future cooking
    - Bought BIL a birthday present - Calvin Klein boxers reduced to £25 from £30
    - Bought lots of reduced food this evening
    - Made a cider & steak stew for the slow cooker tomorrow morning
    - Got £3 worth of Waterstones vouchers free
    - Starting Week 7 of overtime, aiming for 12 weeks' worth
    - Went to court - had one of the charges dropped, and the prospects look good for the other charge
    - Continued going to church and tithing. This is moneysaving as I do believe our efforts will be blessed
    - £6 Quidco cash back ready to be paid
    - Did a 'bleach soak' and a delicates wash as well - had been putting off the both of them
    - Bought hay & cat food on discount
    - Checked credit report - I know the score is meaningless, but glad to see it's gone up significantly. All still in order

    Will do:
    - Put on slow cooker
    - Pack lunch for tomorrow
    - Return Waterstones thing
    - Post BIL gift
    - Go to court on Wednesday
    - Get £10 FD charges removed
    - Phone EdF about 19p charge?
    - Payday in two days' time, hopefully put away £600!
    - Open up new savings account, Nationwide
    - Write JW letter
    - Write complaint letter about holiday
    - Write court complaint after Wednesday
    - Create charity direct debit
  • We were out visiting OH parents today, this is the first opportunity I've had to get online today.

    Today I have managed:
    NSD
    Breakfast from stores
    Used minimal electricity at home
Arranged to go to free workshop tomorrow
Came home with doggie bag of bacon, pork pie and salami
Given a present of HM caramel slices
Sorted library books so OH can return them tomorrow
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
