O/S Daily Monday 16th February 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, looks damp and dreich still.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting up and getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit but will be waking him before I leave for work as he’s being collected by his friend’s mum and is going to his house for the day. She very kindly will drop him home later as she’s going to work and has to go past our house.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, and it was a delicious piece of meat, it cooked beautifully and the veg all seemed to cook just right too, so enjoyed by us all. No-one wanted anything else to eat for the rest of the day. Tonight will be fish, chips, beans/veg for the menfolk and I’ll have fish, jacket potato and veg.

Back to work for me today, not sure what sort of day we’ll get, last Monday was eerily quiet for a Monday then did have a spell of being busy but not a manic Monday at all – we may get that today! The forecast for here is not that good for today but then much better tomorrow so may get everyone in today as they can then get out with the kids tomorrow as it’s forecast to be sunny, bright and dry – we’ll have to wait and see! It’s also supposed to be a bit blowy, will be putting washing on the line if this is the case, could do with some free fresh air to dry the washing!

    Have good Mondays’ everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

I got too hot in bed, and it woke me up, so have been up unusually early for me, probably not really tired either. A bit of mixed weather out here, it has been cold (for here) evening and nights, and on cloudy days, but last few days have been warm and sunny, a great day forecast for today, then the temperatures drop massively for the next 5 days, so don't want to take part of the quilt off (its a split one) but for last night it was too warm IYKWIM.

Not a lot to report really, went to the market yesterday to get some fresh veg, also cooked up a batch of mince to make cottage pies and pasta dishes with, with lentils and oats added. (DH's favourites)

Seems the low carb diet, which is the only one which works for me, is not as bad for me as it has been suggested, so thinking of going back to it as certainly need to get some weight off. Now to get my head in gear with it!

Is it me, or have the good bargains seem to have disappeared, looked on Grabit and Hotdeals and nothing has really inspired me, or have we just got used to lower prices?

Anyway enough rambling. ((hugs)),Spoons, & Positive Vibes all round, especially to Dumpling. Take care everyone. DG

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Thank you donny-gal for the posi-vibes, I need them today as I am off to my first weigh-in with Slimming World and I am not expecting much to be honest as I have been off plan for most of the week. Oh well, I will do a lot better this week hopefully :o.

Hubby has just left for work and I am up bright and early as I am babysitting the grandchildren so their mum can work this week. They will be here just after 8am so I am enjoying an hour to myself before the endless questions from them especially the 3 year old whose favourite word is "Why?" :rotfl:. Apparently the answer "Just because" does not satisfy :D.

My DD's are all still tucked up in bed and I don't suppose I will see them yet till this afternoon although the evil side of me wants to let the grandkids go and wake them up when they get here. I suppose the general noise will wake them anyway thinking about it so I may see them before lunch time after all :rotfl:.

I'm going to make sticky lemon chicken and noodles for tea followed by pancakes, I know it's a day early but the grandkids are going to their dad's house to stay for a couple of days tomorrow so won't be around. My hubby made up the batter before he left for work bless him so all I have to do is cook them. I always make loads and loads as everyone loves them except me, I've never been too fussed on them and will happily go without.

Anyway, that's all my waffle for now, thank you all for your support over the last few days, it really means a lot to me. Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning all. Yet another miserable day here, this time with drizzle. I think the sun has forgotten our little part of the world! The forecast tomorrow is better so I live in hope!

I had an even worse night than usual, a stinking cold crept up on me late yesterday and I have been awake sneezing and blowing my nose half the night! Feeling very sorry for myself this morning!!

I got my 3rd hand blouse altered yesterday. The very draping sleeves have gone and replaced with a normal long sleeve, It feels so much better and I am quite pleased with my efforts. Just hope DD doesn't want it back now!!

Need to go in town later as there are a couple of things I want from Boots and other odds and ends from here and there. Won't pay sm prices when I can get cheaper in Poundland and B & M!! Gone are the days when I could wander around in peace! Mr TA insists on coming with me "to carry the bag"!! Bless him, he thinks he is helping!

We topped the bird feeders up yesterday (Mr TA the front ones and me the back) and I took time to take stock of the garden instead of dashing straight back in. Loads of buds on the Camelia and it promises to look lovely. Buds on shrubs etc that I hadn't noticed from the window. There is a very neglected air about it and I long for some warm weather to sort it out and clean up the patio.

Have a good day all. Take care xx

    Morning everyone.

My, it's a chilly day. But so light already. :j and rainy.

Today I'll finish off a piece of work so must get my head down to it. Trouble is that the work is both boring and un-doable but I have to prove it.

We've got loads and loads of geese around just now, sometimes there are just two or three going past the window but more usually between 20-50 at a time. And at night they don't half make a racket.

Got a fairly empty fridge! OH went off last night so I can forage for food.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Good Morning All,

I hope everyones well and had a good weekend. My weekend was good enough but it has left me exhausted. Due to that fact i am going to have a fairly quiet day and take it easy on the house work.

There are people coming to the house today to do tests on our water to check for listeria so i would like to make sure the kitchen and bathroom are clean and tidy for them.

Hope everyone has a good, warm and safe day,

    Regards
    :j
  • Morning all

Busier week this week as I'm doing some Temporary work for a few days. Luckily it's only 5hrs per day so can still fit in my other chores. Will be leaving DH in charge of the shopping and cooking today though!

Went for a rather muddy walk yesterday but at least it didn't rain. It was so nice to be out walking and then we ended up having a pub Sunday lunch followed by flopping on the sofa to watch the rugby.

Sun is peeping through here now so I'll say farewell and wish you all an enjoyable day.
  • Dull, grey and it has just started to rain yukkkkk.....Monday clean to do. OH also has to ring the agents, the shower is as bad as the other one, too hot to stand under and then goes cold, something needs altering or another new one.

This afternoon I hope to tackle sewing together the blocks I made yesterday, they make a chevron pattern which is very popular just now. Then I have to tackle the flying geese block, that will be fun.

Last nights pork will get sliced this morning, we will have some for supper tonight, the rest will go in the freezer for another hot supper some time when I am feeling lazy.

    Morning all,
