Standalone missed flight connection insurance

Does it even exist?

Current insurance covers missed departures for international but no good if I fly into US on one airline and internal flight onwards and I miss that one.

Coming home no issues - if internal flight is late internationa flight is covered.

Probably not: although the 'travel inconvenience' section of the insurance that Diners' Club provide to their cardholders would probably cover this situation.
  • If it is booked as a single booking then the air line is responsible for dealing with you if the second leg is missed.

If you have booked the two flights independently of each other then you are on your own. Not aware of any stand alone policy you can buy and so either you need to be cautious with the gap you leave or buy the second+ leg as flexible so you can reschedule if you have problems with the earlier leg(s)
