Hi All,
My Home and contents insurance is due later this month. My premium has trebbled with Tesco because of 2 Claims i have had this year.
When looking online they all state 10,15,20% off when you apply online BUT.........
They also state in there T's & C's that you can apply if you are claim free for a certain number of years.
Whats the best way to apply for insurance when you have made a claim.
Thanks in advance
Mark

You just have to be honest with the insurers & you must expect that any claims made within the past 5yrs will mean a higher premium or even a refusal to insure you with some companies.
With 2 claims in the past year, this is going to reflect costwise with anybody you find willing to accept you as a new customer, so you won't be able to find a very competitive quote as you would when you have years of never claiming on a policy. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
It is so annoying I know! We had 3 claims in 5 years but what they fail to take into account is, that we have only had 3 claims in 36 years of being insured.0

devonmark. Although it won't help you as all your claims were this year but some insurers look at claims in the last 3 years and some in the last 5 years.
When you get to 3 years without claim try to find another insurer that only wants 3 years claim free. Also if any future claims (hope not for your sake) are small do not claim from insurance as you'll find you will pay for that in increased costs on renewal.

Yes, it's annoying and unfortunately for you, insurers use risk profiles with particular weight on recent events. The world and circumstances change. If they based their premiums on 30 year old data they would be losing money all over the place.0
