Changes to our bank account

Recently my partner and I decided a joint account would work better for us than our separate accounts. When we set it up we specifically made sure there was no overdraft facility. I logged into my mobile banking recently to find out that the name of the account is now "Bba with od tier n" I have now found out on the barclays website that this means barclays bank account with overdraft tier.
Are they allowed to include an overdraft facility even after we made sure there wouldn't be when signing up?

Why would you not want an overdraft facility which is free unless you use it?
It's a little like being offered fully comp motor insurance for the same price as TPF&T, and saying "no thanks, TPF&T is fine for me as I don't plan on having an at fault accident, and I'll never have a cracked windsreen"!0 -

While I'm not wishing to cast any nasturtiums, one possibility is that the OP doesn't have complete trust that their partner won't use it if it's there, hence the desire not to have it in the first place.0 -
OP, in addition to what others have already posted: not having an agreed overdraft facility doesn't prevent you from going overdrawn. You need to control your spending yourself.0

OP hasn't said how much the facility is. I don't bank with Barclays, and couldn't find anything from a quick google, but I'm wondering if "n" denotes not applicable, or none, etc and they've simply jumped to conclusions?0

Going by the Barclays OD charges document, an account with overdraft tiers is only available to customers who "add one or more packs" (insurances of sorts) to their account.
Perhaps if you add such a pack, you automatically qualify for a fee-free overdraft of £200?0 -
The Halifax Basic Bank account doesn't permit overdrafts. It's one of the features, although as Colsten referred to, misusing the account can lead to the account being overdrawn0

Other than the name is there an actual OD available on the account? All that glitters is not gold.0
