Another bit of Gumtree Advice Please

Thanks all in advance,

Managed to sort the last problem out and now had an odd one, person insisted on postage ( wont be doing again as seem to get non stop trouble with postage when using Gumtree )

Paid via bank transfer so no issue there

Was posted via signed for via myhermes and was signed for so thought nothing more of it

Fast forward to yesterday ( 3 weeks later ) and getting emails saying its not arrived etc and they will be reporting me about it

Have requested proof of signature from Myhermes but is there anything else I need to do my end?

Seems really odd as someone has certainly signed for it and as I say its 3 weeks after now so why would they not have contacted sooner

Have asked Gumtree for advice but they are not very helpful about it all

If its a bank transfer then you should be OK. Unless they claim the transfer was down to fraud.

  • Thanks,

As I say I know they ( or someone ) has signed for it as its marked on my tracking info which is why I have asked for proof of signature on it

Not sure what else I can do really

If it's bank transfer and signed for (and Hermes) then there's a good chance the buyer is telling the truth. There's plenty of signed for items that don't get delivered. I'd ask for a claim form from Hermes and submit it. They can then contact the buyer.
Your funds are safe while this is looked into and worth going the extra mile as the buyer could eventually sue for non receipt, if the value is worth it.
    .
  • Thanks I will do that then

I am obviously happy to refund if he has not had it but as I say Myhermes have it listed that it has been delivered and signed for

I will let the buyer know what I am doing while I put in a claim form

  • Just an update on this

Just spoken to Myhermes and they are saying that because of the time taken they are unable to supply any additional information on it other than it was signed for

So I am not sure where this leaves me?

Am I best to just refund it and put it down to experience, either way it is frustrating

Tell them the buyer is disputing delivery so you want a claims form.

Means nothing. I use Myhermes all the time and most of the time no signature is asked for even when I take delivery.

I remember catching one driver who was walking away having left the parcel at my front door. I checked online, it says posted through customer letter box. It was nearly 5ft long.

Did you use the cheapest service or did you actually pay for the signature. Base service doesn't include signature.

I thought Gumtree was for face to face sales only.

I suppose it's safer if you are the seller and not the buyer though, at least the OP was honest enough to send the item in the first place!

Buyer is just trying to do an ebay and get their item for nothing.

You have proof of delivery, that's all you need.

Keep the money and ignore them.
