Thermaskirt

Hi

Has anyone got recent experience of thermaskirt?

I need to upgrade my radiators and am considering thermaskirt as an alternative, I really like the idea but have the following concerns

1) heat output, I have largish (6 x 4meter) living room with an open stairway to upstairs (1930's semi) so its a large area to heat

2) noise, if they are noisy heating up/ cooling down that really annoys me.

The reason I need to upgrade the rads is the house takes so long to get warm, (once its warm its ok) I have a new boiler - no gas fire and the rads are really old with no convector's (just 2 in the living room). My plumber is suggesting new rads to warm the room quicker, but I really like the idea of no rads , having better insulation and using thermaskirt and would be very interested to hear of other people experience .

Thanks

It sounds good, my opinion is it might be a good solution for a large commercial/office space but a bit overkill for domestic. It would be much easier/cheaper to repłace with a new, higher output radiator.

But then I quite like the look of radiators!

Have you worked out if you have enough wall length to get you enough ThermaSkirt to heat the room? I've thought about this in two houses & each time I put the dimensions into their calculator it says it can't be done
(also, other skirting radiators are available).
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • Thanks, I had problems finding their calculator, I'll look again, must say its not the best web site I've used, :)

I see ThermaSkirt has "design software" now. I've not used that, when I did it you just put in room dimensions, outside or internal walls, insulation, windows, etc. It may have been one of their competitors websites I used.

I don't know if it was ThermaSkirt but I stayed in a holiday let with it and in clicked and groaned as it heated up and cooled down.
  • I found the design s/w - I would need additional heating so its a non starter really , thanks for your help everyone
