Not linked to my other thread r.e. car swapping. My OH Audi A4 driver side window seems to have a mind of its own recently, its supposed to lower slightly as you open the door (its a convertable) then raise again once closed, it lowers about 1/2" as it should, but doesn't raise again when the door is closed. Managed ot close it by pressing 'up' on the switch, and manually pushing the window up. Today, it lowered itself part way and she struggled to raise it again.
Before I call an auto electrician out to charge me £40 per hour or something similar, any ideas of things I could try first please?

Is it possible the anti jam mechanism has triggered and needs reset?
The manual will tell you the procedure - something like:-
1. Move the glass to the full down position.
2. Then touch the up button quickly 3 times.
3. This should reset the anti-pinch feature.
On mine its something like hold the up button for 5 seconds.0 -
Getting stiff on its runners or the motors getting weak.
Especially if you need to help it back up. What material is the runner made from?
May need a wax based lubricant on the guides. or a strip down and regrease of all the sliders.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Spray silcone spray down the runners and work the windows fully up and down a few times. Sound as if the motor and linkage are intact, just stiff from lack of use.0

Try an Audi forum. It may be a common fault.0

Has your battery been disconnected. My convertible (not Audi) does this when the battery has been disconnected. In my case the windows need reprogrammed to know when they are fully up or down again.0
