A great little website for seaching property on a map. Just put in a post code, say w2 and then move the sliders for price and bedrooms as needed. Then the fun bit....move the map into an area that you want a house and click seach. Check it out. You will see what i mean.

Always bear in mind that, depending on your area, houses don't always make it onto these websites. When I was searching in Wiltshire, they popped onto Rightmove within a couple of days, but when I moved to Wales they were sold by the time they were posted up there!

This is particularly true of Fish4Homes and some of the smaller websites, because they don't take direct listings but instead pick up listings from other sites (either estate agents, direct selling sites, or other listings sites). This often takes another week or so on top, so by the time you get there you could be looking at houses that have been on the market for a month.

As much as I love the Internet, try and build up a good relationship with local estate agents and encourage them to call you when they get something new to the market (I know it's harder when you don't live there, but can be done).

Online versions of local newspapers are also good, although can be slightly slower depending how regularly they are issued.

I have found that together Rightmove and Findaproperty cover all the agents in our area(in fact I think findaproperty may have more than rightmove). All the other sites seem pretty crap for me (not many agencies, late with listing, difficult to use)
