1. currently have a 128gb Toshiba ssd in my pc, starting to fill up now, bought about 15 months ago.
2. all music / data etc etc is on separate hd.
3. I need at least 250gb new ssd to replace the 128gb ssd, this 128gb ssd will go into my laptop - giving the laptop a serious upgrade.
4. budget £100 max would like to come in around the £70 mark though,, of course write and read speeds are all that matters to me, what ssd would you spec? ebuyer, dabs or ebay please.

I would go with one of the Crucial drives, I had a problem once with one of theirs, they bent over backwards to help me and I was so impressed with their service I will always go with them now.0

Samsung make good SSDs with good transfer speeds. I have just used an 850PRO in a 'best PC regardless of cost' PC. The EVOs are nearly as good for your budget.0

I bought an OCZ one and it failed within a couple of weeks.
I've got 3 Crucial ones and they've been fine (one over a year, and two coming up to a year).
I've also got a laptop with a hybrid one, and it's pants.0 -

Samsung or Crucial for me, had both and had no problems with either.
Avoid Kingston and PNY!

Another vote for Samsung Evo 840. I installed the 500GB version in two of our laptops over a year ago and they've been as good as gold. The 'Magician' control software is very good and the Samsung Data Migration software makes cloning from the old disc a doddle.... Same advice as most others here, Samsung or Crucial. If you can stretch your budget go for the 512Gb versions, with the crucial MX100 512gb you get faster speeds due to the parallel memory chips.
Something worth doing with an SSD is leave a few spare gigs unprovisioned, i.e not assigned to the partition as this gives the drive extra cells to re-allocate.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
The Samsung EVO SSD's had some problems with slow downs on older drives which might be worth investigating before making a decision.
Amazon had some very good deals on SSD's during their black friday deals late last year. It's a pity that you left it until now.0
