is this drill good or no?

Hiya,

Just looking for a bit of advice really.

I'm a keen DIY'er and I have this c rappy cordless drill that is no more than a glorified elec screwdriver, so I want to get a nice powerful corded one. Lidl have one for £39.99 but not being a drill buff, i don't know if it's good or not - any advice please....?

Many thanks

    hiya
i cant see the product you mean but as a general rule more power means better drilling- i have a 21v cordless and it gets through most stuff.
its best usually to go for a good make too- bosch are ok, dewalt are fabulous and all my skil stuff is excellent. but people have very different opinions on brands. maybe have a look at screwfix direct- they are reasonably priced and have a great range. 'which?' i think have stuff about brand reliabilty and performance for extra advice (spot the nerd...)
    good luck

Linds, unfortunately the drill in question is a Lidl Regional Offer, so most of us will not be able to see the link.

Im not keen on the keyless chuck as i find the drill bit invariably slips. Power is good and ive never used a chiselling drill so wouldnt know what to expect.
I have a JCB 1010W and a 19v cordless and am very pleased with both (cost about £60 for both from makro)
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!
