bank account to use for switching

Just wondering if you could open a 'basic' bank account to use to switch with to be able to qualify for switching bonus.
If so which ones are best and would I need to have it open for a minimum time before being able to switch?
Typically confused and asking for advice

Depends who you are switching with - some will require the debit card details when you apply and others will not. After application in can take 4 or 5 days to receive the debit card.

If you want speed try Natwest - in my experience they are very quick re opening and card dispatch. Have your passport to hand on line and another debit card - as they normally do online ID verification which speeds the process up.

Plenty of others however - Barclays and the Co-op require a branch visit for their basic account but most allow online applications.

Why not get two donor accounts and do both together? Realistically, you could be well over 2 months away from Co-op paying out. Will the M&S offer still be around then?

And don't forget the DDs on the Co-op donor account!
  • Thanks will try nat west then swop to M&S
then see if I can do him another for Co-op
