Amazon tracking states 'Delivered to person' but its impossible???

An online amazon item was purchased by a friend and on the day of order, it said that it will be delivered 'late' next week.

She was away from this address this week, and will be away early next week.

But according to her Amazon emails, and tracking the item has been delivered early yesterday on friday.

But she was not in that day, and wasn't even near her place but according to her emails, and Amazon logistics tracking, they say it has been delivered.

This is what it says:

Parcel was handed to resident
The parcel was delivered to (their name).

So it has been delivered earlier than they stated on the date of the purchase,
but their online tracking say "handed to resident" which couldn't have happened, as she wasn't there that day.

She is away for some weeks from that area too,

Did the driver leave it there, without taking a signature ?

Has this kind of thing happened to do with an Amazon order ?

What is their customer service telephone line?

Can they track it, by checking with the drive who delivered it?

Just checking what to advise her, if any of you are regular online Amazon shoppers.

You need to advise your 'friend' to contact Amazon. Why did she order something when she was going to be away for some weeks?

Tell your friend to go to this page:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=gw_m_b_he?ie=UTF8&nodeId=471044

She then needs to select 'need more help' and she will then see a link on that page (near the picture of the box with a question mark) that says 'contact us'. Follow that link and she will then be prompted to log into her account and can choose the order she is having an issue with. She can type in her phone number and Amazon will call her back within about 30 seconds.

She would have received an e-mail advising which specific day it was going to be delivered, she should have contacted Amazon to cancel or postpone the delivery if she was going to be away.

Yes as Amazon Logistics do not require a signature.

I assume you mean driver, yes they can check who delivered it but not who received it.

Maybe a neighbour took it in.

But from the opening post, notice of the estimated delivery was received and the date was going to be when the buyer was back from their travels.

When did she place the order, and when did she go away?
Did they specify a delivery date, because just say 'late next week' sounds a little ambiguous.

I read that but they do send another e-mail with a specific delivery date!

As the OP is not the recepiant this is third hand and so not all the information may have been passed on or detailed here.

If it was a UK company, SoGA states that where the buyer is a consumer, the goods remain at the sellers risk until they are delivered to the consumer.

However, amazon are not a uk company (unless perhaps you purchased from a marketplace seller?). Best bet is to research luxembourg law and see if they have anything similar in their version of the SoGA (about risk passing when goods are delivered to the buyer).

Luxembourg is part of the EU. If the value of goods is less than €2000, the European Small Claim procedure applies:

Not sure how that relates to my post tbh - my post was specifically about terms surrounding the transfer of risk, not about how to start a claim when the retailer isnt a uk company.
