Hi all,
I have a ten pound m & s voucher, and could do with some food. I'm putting off going out in the rain and wondered since I know it's expensive there, what are the best buys I should be looking for? (I don't really want any of the voucher back in change, only means more vouchers!, but I want as much food as possible!)
Thanks for any suggestions!:D

you can often get crispbakes on offer and the chicken and brocolli ones are lovely, also again often on offer is the ciabatta rolls which are really lovely.0

The staple foods don't tend to be too much more than the other supermarkets.
Bread, milk, tinned stuff.
To be honest I am completely off their fresh food stuff as locally in my store most stuff runs out on the day you buy it.
I don't know if you have noticed, but M&S rarely discount any food items. They leave them on the shelf until 7pm the day they go off and then they either discard them or staff take them home.
The amount of times I have been in a store and only food fresh until the end of that day is available, so do beware!0 -
I'm with Counting Pennies - go for staple foods, not processed stuff, you get more food, it will last longer and it's better for you. Don't forget you can freeze bread and milk, amongst other things.
But M&S do not give their food to staff, or chuck it - they donate it to local charities like children's homes. Day Centres, etc. It is not wasted. All Art is the transfiguration of the commonplace

M&S bread is always nice and freezes well. Last week they had quiches on offer for 99p which were really nice (also falafel) both of which would make the basis of a good meal for two. Both can be frozen as well.
In general I'd say look for what's on offer and buy it. Don't think I've ever had anything out of Marks that I didn't like0 -
My local M&S stopped 'reducing for quick sale' food last autumn (and put up signs saying so) - maybe it was a national policy?
They usually a range of foods for half price (5 or 6 things).
If I were you I'd stock up on booze! (M&S wibes are always well-reviewed and I've never had a bad bottle and their ales and mixed drinks are good too.) You might want to do something more sensible though!0 -
their chickens are on offer again, and they are really good. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I would buy £10 worth of their creme caramel desserts if left to me ;-)0

Is it a food voucher or can you use it on anything? If you can, I would get some cheaper food elsewhere and use the voucher on clothes when they're in the sale. If you need the food, then I agree to go for staples.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
