can I ask how you do a amazon trade in
thanks

Hi LPP, go to the Amazon web site, log into your account, and on the right hand side there is a list of 'other accounts'. There should be a link for a trade in account there.
It is pretty self explanatory. I have been decluttering, and using this for (some) unwanted books. Not all are accepted, but what is eligible seems to change from week to week. For books, you simply type in the ISBN and it tells you a) if they are accepting that title, and b) how much they are offering. If you have £10 worth of books (according to what they are offering), you can print out a free postage or collect + label. If they reject any you can ask for them to be sent back to you. They pay you in the form of an Amazon gift card, which you can use to buy (or put towards) other things, and it all happens pretty quickly, you usually hear back within a week. Books have to be in good condition.
It is pretty hassle free, and while they don't pay loads, postage is free and there are no ebay fees! They also accept other things than books, but I have not personally used it for anything else (or not yet)0 -
Hi all
Today I went to see the horse then we had four viewings on rental properties.
The first was a no as the bedrooms were a little too small (I don't think we'd get beds + wardrobes in) and the bathroom didn't have a shower you could stand up for be it walk in or over the bath!
The second was more an out of interest as it was over budget (£700 per month) and had more space than we needed. Again the living area was lovely, the en suite had a walk in shower which was a positive. We didn't fall in love though. They were in the same building and I think one in between the two (which is what we were originally after but that had been let!) would suit us perfectly.
The third was nice, but the EA was a bit pushy and again although the bedrooms were bigger we didn't completely love it. The fourth was back in the same building as the first two and we could live in it (or the third one) but again no rushing.
The plan is to wait and see if anything else comes up in this building we really like. If we get to August/September and nothing then we'll have to compromise. We have two more to look at in separate buildings next week as well though.
OH treated me to lunch from Subway and then we've eaten in for tea.0 -
Well i went shopping today - I knew my budget was £15, but then I thought, rather than seeing what you can buy for £15, why not try to get just what you need for under £10. Didn't quite manage it, was £10.70 in the end but leaves me an extra £4 for a top-up shop later in the week.
Also rather than replace the curtain rail which I pulled off accidently, I managed to get some replacement brackets and resecured it to the wall. Its not a perfect job yet but curtains are up, so happier. Unfortunately the curtain hooks also seem to have perished with age so I will need to replace those too..
Finished off the jelly, defrosted some Aldi sausages and cooked them all together so they just need a quick zap in the micro when ready to use the rest.
And I didnt feel like I'd done anything useful this weekend!
Have a voucher for free car wash that needs using up tomorrow, just need to get myself organised - its on the way to a friends house.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Good morning all
A weary Bob today as had just gone to sleep last night when an hour later a call came in from ADT to say the alarm was going off at the business premises. As it was a one sensor trigger it was highly unlikely to be an intruder as you'd get all 3 going if someone was walking about inside. But after phoning back to find out and then trying to get back to sleep I had about 4 hours in the end. Mr Bob has gone down to investigate as I have to go to work very soon. Today is my last day at the part time job which I am glad about now. It's been a great tool but time to move on.
Not much to say on the MS front this weekend. Got £2.50 in tips yesterday which I used to buy son an icecream in mcdonalds, a 40p roll on deodorant in sains and a packet of cheap paracetamol.
Also got fed for free yesterday and coffee.
I did pay off £25 to a CC from a music magpie payout. So that's a small thing. Have done really well on extra payments this month. Think about £300 on top of the £110 basic. This was due to the commission our life insurance agent paid us. Mainly and the focus group I took part in.
Anyway it's going to be all about the coffee today
Have a great Sunday.

Go Bob! Well done on the CC. I hope that the alarm proves just to be the wind or something...
I have paying guests staying at the moment so am creeping around the house. Just blitzed the kitchen on their behalf! Still creeping around now, they are in bed!
Reconciled online statements (twas payday on Friday). Delighted to have got family loan below 1.5 k now, and made big dent in the CC. Gutted that that means there is hardly anything left to live on this month! Feeling a bit meh about it all. Thanks for cheering me on, Bob especially. Just gotta keep doing it!
Into work today, going to aim to be settled there with radio on before the Archers! Its a good chance to get my head down on a project that is a big springboard for the future, and I swapped a quiet day there today for a holiday day in half term. Did it!
Got lots of logistics planning admin to do today - MSE in that I am trying to make the most out of business travel and see friends, but also need to work out when I will be here over the next 3-4 weeks to meal plan etc. Its complicated! But I did my best! Hoping to see 2 sets of friends on one business trip, and one on another.
Doing some of my free (work paid for) leadership module this evening. Excited to have a new book to write in!!!! Didnt get back in time to start this. Er...guess thats what half term is for!
Must tweak adverts for paying guests to encourage more in over next few months as I really, really want to meet my DF target of mid April. 2 paydays to go. Something extra required as salary alone wont do it (especially as I booked a city break just ahead of DF date!). Did a bit of this, more to do..
Expenses to claim back. Work laptop upgrade to sort out so I have to travel in less for certain tasks. Did expenses, over £100 winging its way back to me, but forgot to upgrade laptop!
Washing in machine, will be done before I leave so will split my risks and pop half outside I think. Heating will be on later for guests so good chance to dry stuff! All done
Taking random bits for lunch to work and making use of free gym at work during day. Sadly need more petrol so lost out on SFD x2 this weekend. Duh. Fuelled up! Ate random grub.
Need to chase Ebay collector to arrange for them to come over. Have a few more items to list tonight and will also go through amazon trade in books. Grr. Still havent engaged with me.
Have just one spendy day over the half term, and that is a combined special occasion and afternoon out. It is working out cheaper than expected though as timings mean we can politely avoid 2 meals out in one day! Turns out, tomorrow is spendy too.0 -
Morning DFW-Jedis,
Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity.
Just a short list to start with as we're going to town:
The List
:starmod: Check online banking and reconcile monies
:starmod: Do i-Say surveys.
:starmod: Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.
:starmod: Fix my laptop's low virtual memory problem by adjusting the paging settings. Done in 20 clicks! Farewell continuous annoying messages and programs closing down on me and no need to pay someone to fix it.
:starmod: Do Royal Mail Surveys.
:starmod: OH to touch up some gloss paintwork using paint from stores.
:starmod: Go for a swim at cheaper local pool instead of expensive one further away. Free shower before and after! Done. Talked our way into a free sauna and steam room session too.
:starmod: Going for Valentine's tapas, all budgeted for. Use free WiFi in the bar. Done, and talked our way into 4 dishes for the price of 3. I'm on a roll with the sweet talk today.
:starmod: Pay an extra £150 off my credit card and update signature below. Having less than £1K debt is now tantalisingly close! So proud of myself. After 9 years I've only 11% of my original debt to go now. Done.
:starmod: Washing out on the line.
:starmod: Forgot to stop at Sainbury's for beer. Will go without.
Well that's me for today. Back later if time allows. Good luck on your quests, Jedis.

It was a break in! Door was forced and police had to come and change the locks. Husband spent morning at police station getting keys. Gutted. But no damage done thank god.

Sorry to hear about the break in Bobarella
Hope it doesn't cause you too much hassle and expense.
Went to an antiques fair this morning and spent about £40. However, this is a business cost. The only thing I bought for ourselves was a loaf, as DD, SiL and baby GD appeared at lunch time and I hadn't made any.
Apart from that I have:
Had 3 eggs from the chickens today
Made a huge stew to use up all the bendy veg in the bottom of the fridge, together with some stewing beef from the freezer which I bought when it was on offer. We had this for supper with a jacket potato and there will be enough for another day.
Not lit the woodburner tonight as it isn't cold :T Heating has been off all day as well
Taken down the dust magnet book shelves in the lounge and sorted out the books, some to keep, some to sell and some for charity, which will be going to the book bank tomorrowI have managed to get most of the others into cupboard space that has been freed up by other decluttering
Must make sure they don't stay there though! If the 'sell' pile doesn't sell quickly, they will be going to charity as well! Tomorrow I must also fill in the holes made by the screws that were holding the shelves up, paint over when dry and choose a picture to put up there instead. I will use one that I already have rather than buying one. This already makes the lounge look a little less cluttered
- but don't look in the cupboards
Right, must carry some more books upstairs.... I ought to be thinner than I am :eek:0
