Someones problems are always someone elses fault.
Or family members who love this person are trying to help and to stop him from messing up his life even further.
They won't succeed unless the relative decides he wants to change but it's normal to want to help a loved one.

Thank-you for all your help and advice re alcoholism, however I was really trying to find out if you cancel your cards and set up a payment plan if you then get blacklisted?0

well, not paying your debts results in being defaulted : this basically trashes your credit record for 6 years
if you default on a mortgage, your home may be repossessedEU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%
some dairy products 42.1% cloths 11.4%

A payment plan would be set up with the credit card companies, so no payments would be missed. Mortgage is being paid so not an issue. Just didn't want to get blacklisted for cancelling cards.0 -
'Blacklisting' is a myth.
A payment plan gets reported to CRAs and adversely affects credit history even if you follow it and don't miss any payments.0 -
