How to disconnect my Facebook links to other websites

This morning I logged on to my tripadvisor account to see they have linked my facebook account to tripadvisor.

I have gone on to the help menu and attempted to disconnect it but I can still see my facebook picture on my account and it still seems linked, but can't see how to get any further 'help'

I am new to Facebook but not that new a few months, and never seen this link up before. I am rather frustrated that a liberty has been taken without my agreement.

Do you know what else is linked up to facebook without my knowledge.

There are some things I would prefer to keep separate, and I would prefer to choose not have it enforced on me.

If you can help I would be grateful.

Thanks

I looked on Tripadvisor search and this came up

Once you sign into TripAdvisor with Facebook, your accounts are linked, even if you sign out of one of them and back in.
If you would like to permanently disconnect your TripAdvisor and Facebook accounts, go to your TripAdvisor profile's Facebook Settings page and click Disconnect.
  • It is really frustrating.

Despite disconnecting myself from Facebook on Tripadvisor days ago I am still getting links up to tell me what my friends are up to, then asking me to log in on my Facebook password. I am also getting updates on my timeline. Nothing on Facebook or Tripadvisor seem to give me any other means of help.

Just like on MSE I would like to remain anonymous, I don't feel I need every thought I put down being advertised to the world. I would like to keep my accounts separate to Facebook.

Short of cancelling my Tripadvisor and all my reviews being deleted can anyone give me any help please?

    Thanks

Not only that, they keep telling you have more friends on Facebook than you think....Import you contacts, yeah as if, it amazes me that people still keep their contacts list anywhere on-line

I don't know how to disconnect those two accounts. But, you may want to install a browser add-on such as Disconnect, which blocks facebook and other trackers.

    https://disconnect.me/disconnect

For Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari browsers.

I'm always amazed at how many friends on my Facebook are oblivious to the fact that their mobile phone numbers are displayed. Even my Brother said its only his online friends who see it, however he did not realise my friends can also see it.

Moreso, he cannot fathom how he gets so many cold calls on his mobile phone. Clearly not only do people I know see his number, but Facebook has it......Thats a big NO NO in my book. ;)

I hate this. Not only the 'log in with Facebook' thing, but the fact that Google seems to want me to link my Youtube account to everything else, and all with my real name. It seems as though there is an expectation that everyone will have everything they do online linked to everything else, and all their friends can see it and share in the fun, and who cares about a few old fuddy-duddies who don't want their phone number made public, after all, how else can we reach you with all these amazing offers, and we can pillage your contacts list (you've got lots of friends, right? Yay for you) and make the same offers to them. After all, if you've nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, right?

Personally, I have a Facebook account with my real name, a Twitter account and a blog with my forename and initial, and everywhere else I am under a pseudonym - like here. That's the way I like it and I will fight tooth and nail to keep it that way.

    Rant over.

  • I found this on facebook today, so giving it a go. There was also a facility to remove some apps they had 'kindly' assumed I wanted added so have deleted these too.

How do I turn off instant personalization?

You can turn off instant personalization on a particular website by clicking Disable in the notification at the top of the page. Certain websites may also have a learn more link that will allow you to control your settings or turn off instant personalization for the website.
You can also turn off instant personalization for all sites:
    1. Click 851557_364200877036449_574807949_n.gif at the top right of any Facebook page (ex: your homepage) and select Settings
    2. Click Apps in the left column
    3. Go to the Instant Personalization section and click Edit
    4. Click Disable instant personalization
This will prevent you from seeing a personalized experience on instant personalization websites and prevents your friends from seeing your info on these sites. You can log in with Facebook on these sites directly to re-enable a personalized experience.

I think what you need to do is to remove all apps and custom websites.

On facebook, click the padlock on the top right, then click the "Privacy checkup"; alternatively you can do it directly by clicking "See more settings", then on the left menu, click "Apps" and delete/disable everything
