blimey its been hard work to get to this point people!
My question is this; I look after my dads accounts etc, would like to switch his electric supply online on his behalf, How do I go about this ? I can only do it from my pc and he lives 40 mins drive away, so cant have him with me. could I just do it in his name without getting in trouble through the data protections act? Other than doing it over the phone I'm at a loss to know how to do it. any ideas??

Just do it all from your pc - you will need meter readingsNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Welcome to MSE
Better to ask on the Energy Board rather than the Credit Card Board. Is there some reason he can't do it himself? Do you have Power of Attorney for your father? If you do, that solves your problem. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Will he know and agree that you're doing it? If not, what happens if the power company rings him up to ask him about the switch?
If he's happy with it then as long as you can get up to date meter readings I'd just do it from your PC. I do a few online things for my mum, including submitting her tax return, and I live 400 miles away (although I normally do most of the work on SA while I'm visiting her).0
