Brand new GHD's faulty and hairdresser website won't refund me!

Options
I ordered some limited edition straighteners for £110. They arrived and when getting them at the box I noticed that the heat plates are not aligned properly nor do the plates close together - there is a gap therefore they are not fit for purpose. The hairdressers supercuts online have told me I have to send them to GHD as they are faulty. My argument is that why should I have to do that when they are the ones who have sold me a faulty pair of GHD's. They have also told me that GHD will potentiometer give me a refurbished pair! If that was what I wanted I would have ordered some off ebay.

Are the online hairdressers correct in what they are saying or are they able to refund me but are being difficult and trying to fob me off?

Any advice would be much appreciated! Many thanks!

You dont mention timings in your post but i'm assuming you've contacted them within a reasonable time. If so, you have the right to reject the goods for a full refund. Nor should they be fobbing you off to the manufacturer (although it can often give a quicker resolution).

How did you pay for the item?

  • Your contract is with the seller not the manufacturer.

Depending on the timings you are entitled to a refund or replacement and certainly not a refurbished pair

If they are faulty on receipt then the seller has to refund/replace.

That said, GHD are a great company; my ex-wife had some which went wrong out of guarantee, and they replaced them without quibble.

I guess that's one of the reasons they're a reputable company!

Agreed but the OP may find it easier to simply send them back to GHD herself. My sister got a faulty pair for xmas and got a replacement no bother direct from GHD. Postage is also free I believe so she won't lose out.

On their site they say they will send you the returns package , for them to go to ghd , but I'd just confirm that you are getting a new pair before you do.
