SFX Power supply

Recently built a new PC, server really for media purposes. Very happy with it but it sounds like an aircraft taking off, pretty sure it is down to the power supply fan, it is the power supply that came with the Aerocool case, a 300W SFX unit. The PC seems to be quite cool but the fan runs the same at all times - so - I am thinking of buying a new PSU but don't really understand what SFX is, can I just buy any other SFX unit and it will fit? Any recommendations?

What is your spec? Which case have you got?
Also, you may want to change your case fan with something more quiet...

just check how much space the case has for a PSU. But most will be able to fix a ATX psu as well.

There are plenty of decent SFX psus thou, so you could just stick with one of those

The case is an Aerocool QS-102, motherboard is an MSI A88XM-E35, 8Gb (2X4Gb) memory and 2 2Tb 2.5inch HDD, running FreeNAS on an 8Gb USB memory stick - there are no PCI cards used as graphics is provided by the APU/motherboard so I think it has a fairly low power requirement. I don't want to be spending more than about £40 on a PSU - but I will if I have to

I've not used BeQuiet's SFF power supplies, but I have 2 of their standard PSUs running within 1 metre of me at the moment, and I can't hear either.

I'm going to agree with this. I have a Be Quiet Pure Power L8 350W Fully Wired 80+ Bronze Power Supply and I can't hear it at all. It's almost weird not hearing a fan.
