Friday 13 February - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Good morning!
Thanks for the start, Ziggy
Not a lot happening here today. Ended up coming home from work an hour early yesterday as I could barely keep my eyes open. I only have a cold but it's totally knocked the wind out of me. Feel like such a lightweight
OH is off sick today. Been up all night with D&V.
So, Frugal Friday looks like this...- Check Bank and update Money (I get paid today!)
- Put some electic on the key
- Take in Mr T's delivery and adjust grocery budget
- Sleep lots
- Catch up on all the movies on my watchlist
Way behind on the washing, just been too tired to deal with it. Catching up with it means I have to use the drier, so I'll just have to deal with that expense.
Hope you all have good days!:T Weight Loss (Start Weight 14st 12lb): 5/24 lbs :T

We decided to stay at home in the end, probably for the best my head is pounding, my teeth ache my temperature is wrong, not as bad as a fever but unstable, I've started sneezing and I am exhausted. Plan for today is plenty rest and fluids.
Tidy up Tash I have no idea what this bug is I have but it was as if I had hit a wall at 6pm last night, the exhaustion came from no where.
Little pink purse Hope your return to work next week goes smoothly, take care and don't over do it. You have my sympathise regarding being ill with a bug for 5 weeks I had something similar in October and my nephew has been ill since Christmas, we are now having to strongly encourage him to resume his favourite activities including archery, gym and playing with his friends as he is scared he will have a relapse
DFW wise I will:
BLD from stores managed B & L but OH suggested fish and chips and I didn't dissuade him as we are both feeling rough

Morning all,
Flippin' 'eck, LPP - that's some savings! Sounds like you're on fire with the debt-busting this year!
Todays' thrifty moves:
*Cleaned whole house using minimal products.
*Changed bed linen & loaded washer for an cheap overnight cycle at some point.
*13th Feb, so that's 13 items de-cluttered today for this challenge I'm doing.
*Listed one ebay item.
*Postie brought a £5 John Lewis voucher from my credit card points & another £15 Sainsbury's gift card from Toluna surveys.
*Submitted claim to Ipsos Mori for my next £10 John Lewis voucher.
*Finalised menu for our special Valentine's meal in tomorrow night. We were originally planning to try out a new restaurant in town, then decided we could cook an equally nice meal ourselves, so that will have saved a wodge of cash. mr f fancied steak, but I didn't & asked him to get me a stuffed chicken breast......then I though 'Hang on, foxgloves, you money waster' because we have a freezer full of chicken breasts, so I will stuff my own & wrap it in bacon, which we also have in stores. Decided I will bake Mary Berry's cappucino cake for dessert as apart from cream & butter, we have all the ingredients in store already, & the recipe looks nice. It'll also give us some leftovers for Sunday & Monday.......well, maybe Monday's pushing it, lol, it IS a cake, after all!
*Still doing 'Use-it-up'. This morning, I've watered a hand-soap to get the last bit of it out, & removed the pump top from a foundation, so I can access the week's supply that is left in there with a coffee stirrer.
*Did a few surveys.
*Wrote this week's budget amount in big letters on shopping list. mr f on half day today & wanted to get shopping on way home to free up Valentine's Day to go out somewhere nice (& I'm thinking low spend, as am planning to take a picnic & choose somewhere we can get in free).
OK, that's my frugal efforts for today.
Best Wishes to all,
f x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 6.5kg/30kg

Hello all
Finally free of grandchildren (I love having them, but they wear me out a bit) All gone home now, but DD2 is threatening to come round with baby GD again tomorrow :rotfl:
So, done so far:
Made a loaf in the bread maker
Made pancakes with Nutella for luxury breakfast (apparently) for 12 year old GD1 :rotfl:
Walked to the park and shops to entertain GD1. She loves to shop, but fortunately is happy with charity shops :rotfl:
Low spend day, just some food for the dog. I got 6 foil trays in the poundstretcher shop for £1.47 :T
Stripped off spare bed, and the bedding is in the washing machine as we speak
Started cleaning spare room, but got interrupted by DH returning home.
Still to do:
Check banks Not done this yet - next job!
Finish spare bedroom, when I can drag myself back up the 2 flights of stairsDone. It looked nice except for a couple of tatty old futons (the floor mattress type) in the corner, so I put them on a local FB free page and rehomed them within half an hour as new beds for 2 great danes
I also hauled some more things out of the eaves cupboard for my sales unit, whilst I was up there.
Ring surgery for a repeat prescription. I must do this in a minute as I keep forgetting. Done, finally!
OH has suggested soup made from stock from the roast chicken I did the other day, with veg and bacon, so must do that. Easy dinner (to say nothing of cheap), but fine with some of the new bread I have just made, and maybe some cheeseDone, and very easy cos OH did it
Right, better get on. Sorry to hear that so many people are poorly with a nasty bugLots of people round here have it as well, including DD2 and baby GD. I am hoping that it is the same one that I got before Christmas so that I am immune and don't get it!
