A new "All Season" duvet

I'm looking to get a new king sized duvet so popped into John Lewis this evening as its late night opening.
Came across what to me is a new concept the "All season" duvet. Its 2 separate duvets 1 light one i.e 3.5 Tog and a heavier one 7 Tog which during the winter you clip together for a total of 10.5 Tog of added warmth.
Seems like a good idea especially during the summer but was wondering if its a bit gimmicky. It's £130 more expensive than a straight 10.5 Tog duvet of the same filling grade.
Can I get anyones thoughts or experiences on this please.
Thanks

Haven't seen the JL one, but I've used All Season duvets for years. Current one is from Debenham's. I prefer two single duvets rather than a double/kingsize because each can then choose their comfortable temperature and the two halves of each duvet can be washed in a domestic machine whereas you'd never get a kingsize in there.0

Thanks, you'd recommend the concept then. It does seem a good one.
I like the lightness of down in a duvet so have always taken it to be professionally dry cleaned.0 -
Blimey - I had one of those years ago - but certainly didn't cost 150 notes

They are a good idea, but if you have the ability to sew a few bits of Velcro in the corners (that's all it was) to a couple of existing ones it does the same thing and you've saved your money... and that would be a very big MSE point to you.
Overall recommended though.

We bought a 13.5 tog KS duvet from John Lewis last year . It is Classic Duck Feather and Down. We were in two minds about getting the two part one as OH likes a lot of weight over him in the winter and the one we bought is quite "slim". But it has been very warm as well as lightweight and he is quite happy. We envisage using it in the summer as well unless it gets very hot in which case we would not use a duvet at all. If it gets seriously cold we have a crochet blanket we put on top.0

same as above, we have one of these (not £150 maybe £80) and its useful to switch between the two, but there is no chance of ever needing to use both together. Some mild winters we haven't even changed to the warmer one.0

We switched to a Baavet wool quilt at Christmas (Baavet.com) and it is brilliant. We have different temperature needs (me cooler, OH warmer) and somehow this keeps us both comfortable. Worth a look.
Nothing to do with the company - just impressed with the product.0
