A dashcam that will record 24/7 will take allot out of your cars battery and it will flatten it periodically, it will be like leaving the stereo on 24/7 without taking the car for a drive.

If you can setup a CCTV camera on the house (if your car is parked out front) or setup a DVR cam corder on your windowsill it will be a better chance of getting someone doing it if its happening at home.

Many dashcams have a feature called movement detection, when you car is hit while your away it supposed to come on, but often in cheap cams they are worthless as it comes on while the perp is driving away or walking away having already done the damage and it sometimes requires the dashcam to be wired into the fuse box of the car to run power to it constant to make use of this feature, as normally they are plugged into the cigarette socket and come on with the ignition on. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFB79814F24001328 techmoan is a guy who reviews for them real world and gives and honest opinion and not a Paid for site review.

ALWAYS buy a dashcam from a UK seller if action site or Amazonia ;) to post back to china in the even of a bricked or damaged cam in transit costs a minimum of £15.95 upto £50 insurance and over that costs upwards of £50.00 to send it tracked all the way to china I saw on the post office website it can cost £100.00 to ship tracked signed for with insurance above £70.00
  • I have 2 x A118 B40 dashcams.

    Head over to www.techmoan.com

He explains all about dashcams and has tested many.

    Hope this helps

have a look on avr mobiles they install "accident cameras" and have good feedback
  • I have the Nextbase 402g professional i use in my coach to be honest i cant fault it. It came first in a which survey beating all the top of the range cams including roadhawk ,vue , garmin ect .The picture quality is exeptional for it's price £140 from halfords and a few insurance companies will give you an extra discount for having one fitted.

As for runnng the battery down it doesn't use that much power so dont really think that is an issue.

What i like about the nextbase is. It comes with an HDMI port and cable so you can review the footage on your television. Thats when you will notice the quality of the recordings.

Dont buy from https://www.policewitness.com they want over 200 quid for the same product.
just because you are paranoid doesnt mean to say they are not out to get you

Try the blacksys CF100 which has a parking mode with motion detection and shock sensor. Optional rear camera and GPS module.

You will need to buy a battery discharge protector (£10-£15 on ebay) if you intend leaving it plugged in for days on end, otherwise with will flatten the car battery.
