PCMCIA card adapter for Honda 2008

I need the correct pcmcia adapter I think it is called to slot into the Honda to put my ad card into for my music. Anyone know what I should be buying ?

I did read this and thought PCMCIA.. Do they still use that?

USB and SD cards these days i would have thought.

No, it seems that in their wisdom Honda thought PC cards were the future in 2008 and added a PCMCIA slot rather than SD etc. So, if you want to use an SD card, you have to get a PCMCIA based SD card reader to put it in! Apparently Mercedes did the same around the same time.

OP, a quick google suggest you'll have fun trying to find one in the UK but EBay is offering plenty from the US (must have been more popular out there!)

No idea what an AD card is but you can get CF to PCMCIA card adaptors on Amazon UK.

True, but seeing as SD is pretty well the de facto standard (for good or bad) elsewhere, and even cheap cards are more than capable at MP3 bitrates, choosing CF for your car's music is a bit like insisting that your new V2000 recorder is technologically far better than VHS even though you have nothing to watch on it

PCMCIA SD adapters are available, they just need a little more hunting - and possibly ordering from overseas.



eta: At a guess, an AD card is an SD card where he hit the key next door.....

I know I have one sitting in a cupboard only used once to update a Panasonic TV and no longer in use. Might put it on Ebay if they are that rare!

My point was the OP could have used a search engine.

Damn i recently threw out a load of Betamax tapes. I wonder which car manufacturer will re-introduce those?

Thought PCMCIA was the future when it had virtually died in everything else. Or bought a job lot of old stock

So Honda and Merc bought all the stocks from everywhere and can rebadge them and sell them for 10x more.

I wonder if PCMCIA network cards will work also? Add WIFI to ther stereo?
