Court fine for no insurance

Lesson learned, always turn-up at Court, or they will just go on what is read-out.
I used to live near a magistarte and they told me that when someone pleads guilty by letter, the magistrates have no way of ascertaining whether the person is being genuine in their plea, so assume the person is actually lieing and so they get the maximum fine & points.
Just an aside, but its lucky that we have not adopted Finland's policy of fines scaled to income. Otherwise the fines people complain about may well be higher.Never Knowingly Understood.

We have fines scaled to income, they are based on half, whole or one & a half weeks income. There is leeway & there is a top limit for each offence. Having said that, it is a simple, cheap & very unfair method of punishment.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
