I need a new shower, currently i have a thermostatic power shower which i find a pain as there are 3 females in the house if we all need a shower the hot water will run out as it feeds from the hot water tank. Not always cost effective as have to heat the water again and also just in case.
what is the best alternative, i am looking at a cold fill electric, but my experience of these that if the tap is turned on elsewhere the are crap. there is a cold water tank in the loft..
i am a bit clueless here

A decent electric shower shouldn't normally be affected by someone else running a tap - you will sometimes get that with a "normal" shower fed from a combi boiler. If you want an "endless" supply of hot water then an electric would be your best bet - they're not all that expensive.
However - I personally find that they're very mediocre in performance, especially in the winter when the incoming water is that much colder. I've never found one yet that gives a good flow of hot water. You can have a slow flow of hot water, or a fast flow of warm-ish water
The best one I've ever used was in a rented property some while ago, a standard mixer shower fed off a combi boiler. But you're looking at a lot of money to replace your boiler, wouldn't be worth it just for the sake of a shower.
So if you're OK with not having a massively fast flow of hot water, then an electric will do the job. Go for the most powerful you can - 10.5KW seems to be the biggest that's available in most DIY sheds. But if you like your power shower then it's a case of scheduling the water heater to match your showering needs.0 -
I'd go along with just about everything Mr Scrooge says.
Or bigger hot cylinder, bigger cold tank.Ebe_Scrooge wrote: »But if you like your power shower then it's a case of scheduling the water heater to match your showering needs.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Doesnt sound like its the showers fault.
My idea would be to get a shower control switch outside the bathroom, and if someone is in the shower for more than 6 mins, turn it off, so it runs cold, you'd find tere is a lot smaller que and more hot water to go around.0 -

lol evil...if i turn the power off the water stops pumping so you could potentially be stuck in the shower covered in soap0 -
Ditto Scrooge and EssexExile, although I will add that the Mira Sport Max 10.8kW is probably the best instant electric shower you'll find. . . . . :-)0
