Silly Elephant

Hi,
nothing groundbreaking i'm afraid, other than to say that my freind at work got a new car. She had cover with Elephant for a ford focus, went online with elephant for a quote for her new MG FT, got a quote of £451. She then rang them to swap the car, and they refused to honor the online quote as she's an existing customer.
Ok so this is pretty bog standard practice with banking and insurance, but it was crackers to hear her ring them end up cancelling, all beacuse they rather have no money at all rather than honor the online quote, around £80 cheaper.
She got a marginally cheaper quote elsewhere in the end - their loss.
If i was a share holder of a company doing this i'd be well annoyed.
How silly.

Not sure why your friend went online for a new quote; why didn't she just ring Elephant to say that she had changed her car - that's usually sorted by an additional (often reasonable) cost to her current insurance. Cancelling the insurance possibly cost her extra depending upon how she paid the premium.
The time to compare quotes is when the period of insurance expires, unless that had also happened.0
