Old Halifax Cash Back credit card?

Options
Hi

I am one of those lucky holders who have the old Cash Back credit card. I still get the credit into my balance (usually £15) but I can not find anywhere the details of what qualifies for cash back and the amount (I recall it was either 1% or 0.5%)

Thanks

  • Hi

Have you tried contacting Halifax and asking them if the information isn't available on their website?

    Good luck. :)
  • They mass marketed a number of 0.5% cashback cards from around 2003 to 2008.

I've got an ancient platinum card paying me 1.0% from around 2000.

Cashback cards that are still activated pays 0.5% now but may find they are changed to standard MasterCard on expiry as cashback cards are no longer a Halifax product.

Funnily enough I was thinking the same as I have one!

They changed the way they did it a while back as we used to get a significant chunk, now it's about £10-£15 a year and there is nothing on the web about the card either!

Westie983 - mine was renewed in July last year and is still on the cashback.

My statements all appear to have vanished from the website, not sure what happened there (did just move my current account away from Halifax but don't see why that would matter). However, the most recent I can see:

    Spent 695.91
    Cashback points: 174

    Just by guesswork I noticed 695.91 / 4 = 173.9525 (rounded up 174) so checked the next statement £429.67 - 107 points and 429.67/ 4 is 107.4175

So would suggest you get 1 point for every £4 you spend and I seem to recall the cashback is total CB points / 100 = £ you get back at the end of the year.

If the card is being closed off (and not been told that by them) then I will have a look at the Cap One or Santander123 cards

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
