Granite kitchen sink

Hello all,
I am at the final stages of planning my new kitchen and am almost ready to order. I told the kitchen designer that I would like a ceramic sink, but that I'm a bit unsure as I have a clumsy husband so am concerned it might be easily damaged. She suggested I get a granite sink instead as they are very durable. Does anyone have one of these and could offer any advice on the pros/cons? Does a white granite sink look plasticy, and does it stain easily? I've done a bit of online research and it would seem that a lot of people choose granite sinks in graphite/black rather than light colours. If it helps the kitchen is Avant beige doors with an Axiom worktop in Shadow Oak.
Any advice would be gratefully received:)

I think your designer is suggesting a Silgranit or Fragranit sink with is not granite at all. Its a composite and its very good indeed. But it may not be to your taste.
I am surprised she isnt able to show you a sample of the sink colour and texture for you to see for yourself that it looks nothing like granite.
All composite sinks will stain if you arent careful. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I do understand that it's not granite like worktops are. She emailed me a picture but the kitchen supplier I'm using is an hours drive away so I've not been to see one in the showroom yet. I was just hoping to get as much information as possible beforehand from those with experience of them. I might pop into my local B&Q to see if they have any on display that I can have a look at. Perhaps a graphite colour is the way to go. Either that or go for white ceramic and warn oh to be very careful! We are having a dishwasher fitted so the sink shouldn't suffer too much abuse.

I have a white Franke Fragranite sink. It's super heavy duty and looks amazing. Simple bleach wash and it looks brand new again.0

We have had an Astracast ROK Granite sink for over six years now, certainly does not look plasticy and still looks like new.

Thanks guys. Glad to know that granite is a good alternative to a ceramic sink.
