Removing gas & electric meters
Hi, I have just moved into a house that used to be 2 flats. Although it has been used as a single property for many years (1 council tax bill) there are still 2 electricity metres and 2 gas metres. This is costly as I am paying 4 standing charges!
Does anyone have any experience on getting 2 removed or any help as to how I go about it?
Thanks

Contact the suppliers of the meters you want removing and have them do it. There should be no charge for this.
If you don't know who the suppliers are, then contact your local DNO and National Grid Enquiry's lines and they can tell you who supplies the meters. You will more than likely need the serial numbers of the meters for them to give you the correct infomations.

Does anything still run from the to-be-removed meters? How much will it cost for any rewiring/plumbing to be done?
If the cost is a lot the payback time might be too long to make it worthwhile.0 -

Yes there is a boiler running off one of them (There are 2 boilers) and the electricity one is still in use too.0 -
Supplier wont be responsible for connecting the electrics/gas up to the non-removed meters. You will need a heating engineer and electrician to do this.0

There are electric tariffs without standing charges. So might be worthwhile for the low usage elec meter0
