Week away at the end of May Southern - Spain/Portugal etc.

Looking for ideas for a week holiday on 23/24 May, possibly Southern Spain, Portugal or Majorca. However, other suggestions are very welcome. Majorca looking most likely at the moment as the flights are a good price, but not really sure where in Majorca. Want to go somewhere upmarket(ish), not too touristy, bit of liveliness at night, warm, nice beaches and ideally some nice places to visit during the day.

Any thoughts welcomed as we're struggling at the moment!

That looks like half term week, so good luck with the prices. If you choose Majorca, look at Puerto Soller, a nice Jumeriah hotel there, or inland around Valldemossa. Further north Puerto Pollensa is relatively upmarket with some older hotels on the seafront. If you don't want a beach within walking distance, the capital Palma is a beautiful city with plenty to do but you would need to travel outside the city for the best beaches

I'd recommend the coast in mainland Spain between Cadiz and Tarifa in Spain, its very Spanish, with not many (relatively) Brits and certainly no full English breakfast type places! We stayed in Verjer de la Frontera which us lovely, great places to eat out and loads to see and do nearby.

The beaches are nice too and at that time of year the sunflowers should be flowering. Not 100% sure about temperatures at that time.

There are some nice hotels around, tho we tend to rent apartments as we find it more relaxing with our daughter.

You can fly to Jerez with Easyjet and rent a car from there, but it'd prob be cheaper flying to Malaga and renting from there (Norwegian are cheap).
  • Puerto Pollensa in Mallorca was really nice. More upmarket but still got plenty of bars and restaurants at fairly reasonable prices.
