Financially linked previous partner poor credit

My ex partner moved out of my home about 12 months ago.
she is getting into financial difficulty and is now out of the UK.
since we lived together for so many years, looking at my credit file she is shown as linked to myself financially.
a) will her bad debt affect my own rating?
b) is there a way to become un-linked to her if the answer to a) is yes?
thank you.

Hi sacha1dog,
a) You will affect one another if you are both associated/linked financially (through joint accounts etc). So if her history is poor or is at risk of becoming poor, then that will impact you adversely.
b) You need to raise a notice of disassociation with each credit reference agency where you are showing as linked. See links below.
Experian disassociation
Equifax disassociation
Callcredit disassociation0 -
I did this when I found my ex-wife still had an association with Equifax 8 years after our divorce. I completed an online form and got confirmation of her disassociation less that two weeks later.
Her credit rating was poor and mine, already good, went to excellent
