Bulb Keeps Blowing on Lamp

Hi

I've got a bedside lamp, and three bulbs have 'blown' in the past 3 days.

Does the mean I should bin the lamp, or is it just a fuse issue?

Thanks

    Are the bulbs correct wattage?
I am not a cat (But my friend is)
  • Just checked - the bulbs were the correct spec for that lamp 40w/R50.

    Cheers

  • R50 spot light bulbs, where did you buy the bulbs and are they all from the same pack?

Are the bulbs a snug fit in the holder ? If they are wobbling about, this can cause arcing which will blow the bulb fairly quickly.

A fuse wouldn't cause the bulb to blow - if anything it'll be the other way round, the bulb blowing will sometimes blow the fuse ( or more likely trip the circuit breaker ).

If its not a moulded plug try checking for loose connections in it and at the switch and bulb holder.
  • Just put in new bulb, new fuse, and tightened the connections. Working again. No idea what the problem was.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
