paypal restricted account

Paypal has restricted my account as it requires information about my company, such as registration data, to comply with EU money laundering regulations. It has not accepted the information I have provided, even though it is correct, and says my personal details do not match the information it has on record about me, which I know nothing about. All the information I have provided is accurate but there is no way to move out of this loop. I have tried calling them but can only get through if I give them a pass code, which I don't have. Any advice?

You should not need a pass code to talk to PayPal- that is an eBay thing.

Is there any difference at all in the name or address details provided and the the name and address attached to your debit or credit card?

Incidentally you might want to ask the board guide on this board to move this to the eBay board - although you might not be using eBay there are a number of people there running businesses and taking PayPal.

"The security of your data is very important to us. Because of this we only discuss account information with the account holder. Therefore we will ask you for a One-time Passcode over the phone to identify you as the account holder. You can see this One-time Passcode after you log in to your PayPal account."

This is a passcode for the support to identify you. But you need to be able to login into your PP account to get it.
  • We had nothing but issues with our Paypal account linked to our business. It was always being put on restricted status even though we kept on providing the info. In the end we just gave up using Paypal as they were a nightmare to deal with.

    Good luck!
  • I had the same thing. They asked for my business address and personal address and a copy of my passport and a statement to prove my address. It kept coming back that the account was still restricted. I ended up calling them and its was sorted within minutes, I think the site sometimes has its own gremlins?

I'm convinced that Paypal don't want business users. Do they make more from casuals?

If the only money you pass through paypal was to be earned from ebay you wouldn't need to jump through any of these hoops AFAIK. So much for money laundering...

You do need a passcode for paypal which is found in the contact section.

    https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/helpcenter/selfhelp/home/

If you have paypal account registered as a business then they will ask you for invoices etc on the stuff you're selling.

What are the exact points they want verified??
  • they want lots of info -- VAT registration etc. Can't get into account to get a passcode!

Seems like they have closed your account then rather than limiting it. Im sure you can call the number and just keep pressing hash key to speak to an agent.
