Sky really should focus more on their core customers rather than assuming we're all interested in sport.
Well the premier league did save Sky's bacon when they were starting out so you can see why they might still be enthralled by them.

    s.
Some of us will be sipping our very large gin & tonics watching a rather more civilised 6-nations rugby match.

Have fun watching a sport that only a tiny minority of people care about. You would have to be pretty brain dead to be interested in such a tedious yawnathon of a tournament. I only wish that Sky would snap up exclusive rights to the rugby world cup but such a move would only bring in a trickle of new business so that will never happen.

It is no wonder SKY's share price is falling.

Yesterday I received an email from them offering me SKY SPORTS for £ 13 a month for 12 months, plus MOVIES for an additional £ 8 a month.

    Complete madness

but I strongly disagree with you re: kids & coaching.

the way that the clubs have it now is that the best kids aren't even allowed to play for their school teams & will rarely be involved in kick-abouts.

The best kids that chose to be part of academy processes, and adhere to the rules.

I've known plenty of top level Rugby players and Cricketers in the UK (two cousins were almost made its, one even played for a Premiership team). It wasn't vastly different to youth football. Another cousin in Aus plays at the top levels of the U18 basketball, while still in high school he was required to take part in 4 evenings of proscribed activities each week; and various training camps etc. None of them had/have to do it.
