In terms of Broadcasting money the English League is even with the current deal already so far ahead of the European competition , and somehow they still seem to struggle more and more each year to stay competitive.
The English teams will waste now even more on third grade players, while the other leagues will continue to put the Money into the youth system, scouting and overall structures of the game. When will the English teams realize that their model does not work, and try to amend their outdated approach of trying to buy success?
It will probably also weaken the National Team even further (if that's even possible), as now also the mediocre and bottom teams will throw even more money at foreign stars and stop the progression of local Talent.0 -

It depends what you mean by "the European competition" but even then I'm fairly sure that I disagree with you.
see this article - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-2947455/Europe-s-TV-money-list-Manchester-United-earned-treble-Bayern-Munich.html
EPL football rights are worth vastly more, about three times as much, in total than Spanish la liga rights but la liga rights are distributed so unequally that Barca & Real have both [until this new EPL deal comes in] always earned a little more than the top English clubs because money is shared so unequally over there.
the lowest earning EPL club in 2013/14 got almost twice from broadcasting what the third highest earning La Liga club did... but this only really tells you anything about spain's 'big two' rather than the UK.
overall the top EPL clubs have over the last few years massively left behind:
(a) all of Italy, which is a huge turnaround from any decade up to the 00s;
(b) all of spain except for the big two; and
(c) all of Germany except Bayern.FACT.0 -
We don't expect car manufacturers to pay for racing driver training, trainer manufacturers to pay for school running tracks, Nandos to pay for school cooking lessons etc etc. As long as they, and their players, pay the correct tax on the huge amounts involved, it isn't reasonable to demand they do more.
There isn't a 'correct' price, ultimately companies pay what they think it is worth...
don't get me wrong, I think it's great that the auction proceeds were so high.
it's good for the quality of football in the EPL, in terms of both absolute level and competitive balance [since the TV money is shared out so equally as per my previous post, compared to say manyoo's obscene economic advantage over say burnley in gate receipts and other commercial income].
but I strongly disagree with you re: kids & coaching.
the way that the clubs have it now is that the best kids aren't even allowed to play for their school teams & will rarely be involved in kick-abouts.
the clubs are the only way that standards can be improved.FACT.0 -

I thought Man Utd were in loads of debt, that is what the Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool mob were telling me not so long ago?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
phew! Glad I don't subscribe, they can pay what they like... suppose it all helps to pay the footballers who are close to getting 1/2 million a week.
side rant: Odd world, as people get paid a fortune to kick a ball around, yet we pay those who look after our children and care for us in old age a pittance...0 -

they're in huge debt, but not because they've made anything other than occasional losses in recent years, quite the opposite, but rather because their owners the glazer family, fancying a slice of manyoo's profile and profits, bought the club with debt, this debt now being payable by, er, the club .FACT.0 -

They are all in huge debt, to various sources. The only way they can sustain the level of debt they have is the huge income they generate.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Spain gets around this by each club selling TV rights separately. As a result, Barca and Real Madrid have pots of cash and everyone else has very little.
On top of that, until recently the Beckham Law meant footballists only paid 24% tax on their earnings.0
