  • Sorry, but if the pc is locking how did you run malware (do you mean malwarebytes)? What did you use to scan and which version of Windows?

I think tavernman's point was how can you do it at all if the PC is locking up? As you can it suggests that your description of the issue is not really correct.

The pc works fine until I try to go into my scanned documents

I have been using it for the past hour with no problems, but again, as soon as I try to open my scanned documents it has locked.

What's the file size of your scanned docs ? You might be scanning at very high DPI (dots per inch) and created a very large file.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
  • Try deleting the document and scanning them again.

It won't let me delete. As soon as I click on the file to try to delete, it locks. It's only a small file, so that's not the problem

Am running a disk check to see if it finds anything.

When you descibe it as locked , do you mean the keyboard and mouse are completely unresponsive and the screen has frozen ?

Does this freezing stop after a couple of minutes or do you have to reboot the machine via the power button ?

Make and model of scanner and PC ?

When it has frozen is the hard disk activity light (if there is one) stay a solid colour or does it flash ?

Time comes onto the screen, then it fades and locks. Keyboard and mouse don't work. I have to reboot using the power button.

It is an Acer touch screen desktop.

Whatever was wrong, the disk check seems to have cleared it and its working now

    Thanks for the help
