My credit score was destroyed because a few years ago I had a shared letterbox and drug dealing neighbour, had giros stolen, any birthday or christmas card etc.
I had mobile phones or sim onlys with every network destroying my score, I never got it sorted really and my score was destroyed.
Been getting letters through the door mentioning getting a credit card from Vanquis, I applied before and was rejected but been paying my mobile phone bill and landline for 2 years and never missed a payment and always on time.
Not sure limit yet and I dont really need it in terms of income as I live thrifty but I wanted to rebuild my score, I set it up for whole payment each month but I am sure I heard somewhere that thats a bad thing as if you pay the minimum it means you build your score better as it shows you can repay money.

Advice generally is to repay in full each month, but wait until after statement has been produced, or it doesn't show.
I had a vanquis card before I got into debt problems, generally they were helpful, but for rebuilding purposes I've gone with Barclaycard initial.Debt free on 2nd January 2015Next savings goals:£5k emergency fund£4k holiday of a lifetime fund0 -
Definitely arrange to pay everything off in full. While they won't be able to make money out of you in interest it will build your score.0
