Reclaiming unfair bank charges

Back in 2003 until about 2006 I was in serious financial trouble, I was going over my overdraft, having bank charges for returned items and I couldn't see the light of day...I had maxed out my credit cards and I was also getting charges on the unpaid items and to top it all I was chased by debt collectors and had numerous defaults.

Right so that's the background, I reclaimed bank charges for the difference between the £30 odd pounds I was charged to the approx £12 that was a number of years ago though...now I read that if your in financial hardship it wasn't fair to keep having charges on top of charges...I am not in financial hardship now thankfully but I wondered if I could claim for the years where I was, ie 2003-2006 I guess it took longer for me to sort out my debt because I was paying off all those charges

Any advise would be gratefully recieved

Thanks

Unfortunatley you cannot reclaim bank charges historically.

If you were in financial difficulty at the present time, then yes, probably.

now I read that if your in financial hardship it wasn't fair to keep having charges on top of charges

That is not correct. The banks can charge. However, they will review cases of people in CURRENT financial hardship to see if they can help them exit hardship.

    You are too late.
