Help needed with i-pod?

My husband got an i-pod today for his birthday and we're having trouble putting the songs onto it.
I made him a playlist in Windows Media Player yesterday and am having trouble getting the playlist onto the i-pod. I dragged the playlist into the sync list, but the Sync Now button at the bottom is not highlighted for me to press on. Also, at the top of the sync list, it says Connect a Device, and its already connected.
Help!!

Looks like it's not just me that is having problems with them. I've had mine since Christmas and it's now become a rather expensive ornament. Friends of mine suggested something to do with i-tunes but I don't know what that does either. :S0

iTunes is essentially the apple version of Windows Media player. You must* install iTunes onto your PC in order to transfer music onto your iPod. It is very easy. Just plonk in a CD or download from the internet. iTunes should then scan you hard drive for all music which it wil then organise for you. Then you connect the iPod and just drag and drop what you want to listen to.
Hope that helps.
*I believe there is other third party software products which allow you to transfer from a windows PC direct to an iPod but I've no experience of using them0 -
personally, i think itunes is better than WMP.
if you insert a music cd it will automatically get the track names for you (as does WMP). when you have itunes open and plug your ipod in, it will automatically transfer new songs over to the ipod for you0 -
Try this

I cant seem to get on with Itunes at all and use this all the time.0 -
As said, the official way is to use Itunes. There are other ways for people who just can't get along with it, but you might as well try it first to see if you like it.
